New 8.375" Record in Oman

VES deploys the specialized VION-616 PDC bit design with incorporated “MEG” sandwich design technology for an onshore drilling application in Oman. The intent was to maximize durability and rate of penetration (ROP) while drilling highly abrasive sandstone formations. VES surpassed all previous records and established the longest interval drilled of 1029 meters in the Oman field, breaking the previous record by nearly 27%. The bit maintained good ROP of 3.8m/hour. Key features enabling this performance were the Fusion+ technology mixing impregnated segments and shock studs for durability, premium gage with thermally stable PDC cutters for abrasion resistance, and the VION design optimized for durability and ROP.
